Lubba brothers

a unique filmmaking team

Travis Lubba, Griffin Lubba, and Brett Lubba are a one of kind independent filmmaking team of triplet brothers. Together, the trio co-write, direct, and produce narrative short films, bringing a distinct perspective to a collaborative approach.

The Lubba triplets made their directorial debut with the short film drama Shadow Man (2024), a formative experience that helped forge their shared creative voice. Drawing on the growth and momentum of that first project, the brothers expanded their scope with the follow-up short film, Visceral —a bold, immersive endeavor that pushes the scale and ambition of their storytelling to new heights.

Co-writing and directing as a set of triplets gives the Lubba brothers a truly singular  place among filmmakers worldwide. The Lubba's are twenty nine years old and hail from New Jersey in the United States.

As a filmmaker, I'm always searching for new and compelling ways to tell stories. A distinctive point of view, a striking location, or an unconventional narrative structure can fundamentally shape the way a story is experienced. I'm interested in exploring those possibilities and making the creative choices that give a film its own identity.

Writing and directing alongside my brothers makes the process especially meaningful. We share a lifetime bond and instinctive understanding of one another, allowing us to challenge each other creatively while working from a place of deep trust. There's something incredibly satisfying about building a story with people who know you so well and who are willing to push you beyond what you might create on your own.

I want to make films that are immersive and challenge expectations. Films that engage audiences on a deeper level, invite them to see something differently and most importantly, make them feel something.

I've long been fascinated by how a film comes together behind the scenes. The process of building a world, shaping a performance, creating a visual style, and bringing all of those elements together to tell a story. Seeing the creativity, passion, and collaboration that goes into making a film made me want to understand the process for myself and eventually, to be a part of it.

That curiosity grew into a desire to tell our own unique stories. Collaborating with my two brothers gives us the opportunity to explore the ideas and experiences that inspire us while developing a creative voice that reflects who we are.

For me, filmmaking is ultimately a process of discovery. Starting with nothing more than a blank page and an idea, and working together to turn it into something that didn't exist before. Seeing what you can achieve from that standpoint is extremely rewarding. I hope to keep pushing that process and making films that feel bold, distinctive, and leave a lasting impression with an audience.

It's exciting to be a part of a young generation of filmmakers with the opportunity to approach filmmaking in our own way. There's an energy that comes with being at the beginning of that journey, learning from the filmmakers that came before us while finding the confidence to experiment and chart our own path. I'm drawn to the idea of pushing boundaries and exploring what we can create when we aren't afraid to do things differently.

Making films is incredibly difficult. It demands patience, persistence, and a willingness to keep going when things don't come easily. But those challenges make the experience even more gratifying in the end. That dynamic keeps us moving forward and makes every project a chance to learn something new. Both about the filmmaking craft itself and ourselves as people.

I don't think filmmaking is about having all the answers. It's about staying curious, trusting your instincts, and being willing to follow an idea when you don't know exactly where it will lead. That's the mindset that I want to bring to every film we make. The next great idea could be right around the corner and I look forward to seeing where this path takes us.
